Photographic Collage: Windows and Doors of Languedoc

I became interested in photo-collage nearly twenty years ago as a graduate exchange student in France. Enthralled by the sights around me, yet disappointed that I could not completely capture them, I searched for a way to make my photos strikingly beautiful instead of average. As I began to experiment with collage, I discovered a solution. Since that time, I have expanded my work to include painting and hand colored photos. Photo collage, however, remains the kernel of creative energy to which I return over and over again. In this collection featuring Languedoc, France, each piece contains two separate photographs. Windows and doors have been cut out in the foreground photo and mounted upon plexiglass which creates a sense of depth.
